We're moving to Georgia (the country)

It’s official! E (the hubs) has been reassigned for work to Tbilisi, Georgia. I’ll be taking this opportunity to explore this part of the world that I don’t know much about and to refocus my career.

What do I already know about Georgia?

Well, first, every time I talk about Georgia, I’ve got to make sure to specify “the country” afterward. Outside of that though…

THERE’S WINE! And something called khachapuri, pronounced (hhhhatch-ah-poor-e). But guys, seriously, look at this stuff-

So, to sum it up, wine and cheesy bread. I can 100% get behind that. I've also heard nothing but good things about Georgian hospitality and the overall kindness of the Georgian people.

And, well, I know the capital is Tbilisi, and that’s where we’ll be living for the next 2-5 years!

What will I be doing in Tbilisi?

Those of you that know me know how much I love learning about other cultures and learning new languages, so that’s what I’ll be focusing on for a little while. The Georgian language seems to be pretty difficult, but I always like a good challenge. Here's a sentence to give you an idea- მე ასე აღფრთოვანებული ვარ ქართული ენის სწავლა!

I went through a LOOOOOONG process of figuring out how this move will affect me professionally and what expectations I should have for myself, which I've also written about. Keep in mind that my husband and I are moving our ENTIRE lives across the world and I know we’ll definitely need some time to settle in.

After that, I’ll be hustling to get some freelance work teaching English, training on strategic communications, or finding a full time job. More on that here.

Lastly, I’ll be working on this blog and the social channels that relate to it, traveling around the region, getting to know the city, and potentially taking a Georgian language class.
